Lemon Soy Chicken Wings Recipe!

Lemon soy chicken wings are a favorite weeknight meal at my house because it’s so quick and dinner is ready by the time your rice cooker is done cooking the rice. I know I say this in my recipes a lot, but seriously this was ridiculously easy to make! You just need to plan ahead for at least 4 hours of marinading but once you get started on cooking, it goes pretty fast! I substituted the soy sauce with coconut aminos to make it a clean Whole30 approved recipe!
The trick when making this recipe is to keep the heat on medium while constantly flipping and stirring it around in a non-stick pan. The first part of the cooking process requires you to cover the pan with a lid so that it allows the chicken wings to get steamed and not dry out. The second half of the cooking process, I removed the lid but kept stirring and flipping the lemon soy chicken wings until it was fully cooked and the sauce was all sticky and delicious.
Note: If you find your lemon soy chicken wings getting a little too dry, add a small amount of water a little bit at a time during the cooking process.
How to Make Lemon Soy Chicken Wings

- Grab a large mixing a bowl and a large zip lock bag. Place the zip lock bag in the bowl open the bag wide.
- Add the chicken wings into the bag. Ground some fresh pepper right into the bag all over the wings.
- Mince the garlic and combine it in a small mixing bowl with the juice of two lemons and the coconut aminos. Combine well and then add the marinade mixture into the bag.
- Zip up the bag letting out all the air and massage the marinade into the wings making sure it gets on each and every single one. Place it in the fridge and let it marinade for at least 4 hours.
- Grab a large non-stick pan with a lid and set the stove at medium heat and add the avocado oil.
- Add the marinated chicken wings into the pan arranging it nicely so that you’re not crowding the pan and that all the wings are laying flat. Pour the rest of the marinade into the pan and cover.
- After about 10 minutes, remove the lid and continue to cook the wings. Flip and turn as you go so that all sides get a nice golden brown color. Do this for about 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens up. Add small amounts of water at a time if the pan gets too dry. Remember, you can always add but you can’t take away so make sure you don’t add too much water.
- You can sprinkle some green onions, sesame seeds, or your favorite hot sauce on top and serve it with plain white rice.
- This also makes for a great appetizer during football season or in my case, a normal Tuesday night!
